Top tips for a well-organised, functional and cosy home office

Many of us are forced to work from home at the moment. You will (hopefully) never spend as much time at home as you will in the coming weeks. Take this opportunity to make your home office as comfortable as possible and well organised. Most of us do not have a complete study at our disposal. However, it is very important to have all your office stuff easily accessible in a specific place and not lying around everywhere. Within this "office area" every single thing should have a fixed place, I call it a home.

And that's how it's done:

Gather all the office belongings and think about how best to store or care for them. Important: Only the most important things should be on the desk or work surface. Keep the rest in a cupboard, dresser or drawer. If you have too many distractions at work, you will not be able to focus.

If your existing office furniture is already very full, now is a good time to create order with a system. Proceed as follows: take all the things out of the furniture, sort everything by categories and subcategories. Think about what you can dispose of, what you no longer need or what you could put somewhere else. If you don't have enough folders for important papers like taxes, bank statements, certificates, contracts, etc., make new folders or a register. Important papers should be kept for 10 years. If you don't have space in your home office, I recommend you use the placeB storage rental service. https://www.placeb.ch/

Also, don't forget to think about good lighting and a correct sitting position so you don't get backache or anything. It is important that your upper and lower legs are at right angles to each other, the screen is at eye level and your feet are touching the floor.

Stay healthy and remember: tidying up makes you happy and calms your mind and spirit.
