LET GO OR BE DRAGGED... (Part 1 of 2)

This blog has become a bit long. Since I don't think you'll want to spend all day reading through my list, I'll split it up... So here's the top 3 of the total 7 things you can let go of! To be continued... 😉

This week I was so fascinated by the Zen saying "Let go or be dragged". Whether it's thoughts, problems, arguments or material things... it's always good to let go! As a certified tidying coach, I naturally like to focus (and with advantage) on the material things or rather on our 'inventory' in our own home.

We have all heard "less is more" dozens of times. For me, it is effectively this. If we own less, we have to own less stuff:

  • clean up
  • sort
  • store and
  • clean

This saves us time, space and, above all, a lot of energy and mental strength. Therefore, decluttering is really the be-all and end-all when we start tidying up at home.

If you're feeling a little overwhelmed with all your stuff and/or struggling to let go and wondering where to start, the following tips may help:

  1. Clothes: Most people have far too many clothes and we always wear the same ones anyway. Get rid of everything that doesn't fit anymore, doesn't make you happy, doesn't flatter your figure, has holes or stains, and even your favourite jeans that no longer have a zip 😉 You can donate the clothes to a charitable organisation, for example. There are enough people at home and abroad who could really use them and would be thrilled.
  2. Body care products / Make up: go through all the products in this category. Keep only what you need on a daily or regular basis. Everything else you can throw away. Even if it was an expensive product. You've already spent the money and it's not going back into your wallet. But no need for remorse! Thank the item and let it go. Now you know you don't need that product and will be smarter in the future.
  3. Lonely objects: I'm thinking of the cassettes without cassette players or the Tupperware containers without lids or the individual socks... if you can't use it any more, then better get rid of it.

And just to remind you :-).... you don't have to go through this alone. There are tidying coaches in your area who can support you - for example me. So just as an idea :-)... You will save a lot of time and nerves.
